HRRMC Physical Therapy
Rehabilitation / Retraining Program
Our rehabilitative services help patients improve their level of function
through increased strength and flexibility. We also help patients regain
balance and improve their mobility, improving daily activity. Patients
learn proper body mechanics so that lifting and movement is done safely.
Rehabilitation programs may involve use of equipment at the
rehabilitation services clinic, or exercises we develop for you to do at home. Our staff will help establish
an individualized exercise program specific to your condition and goals.
In addition to the physical aspects of rehabilitation, we provide mental
and emotional support to cardiac patients who have heart problems and
disease. We provide retraining to neurologic patients who have had stroke,
head or spinal cord injury.

Pain comes with healing, rehabilitation, and retraining. We work with you
to help reduce the pain while maintaining your progress. Our services
include electrical stimulation, soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization,
and stretching which help decrease muscle spasms and increase blood circulation
to promote healing and maintain movement. We also provide chronic
pain management through teaching techniques to manage chronic pain, education, individualized
exercise programs, and some electrical stimulation and soft tissue mobilization.
Continuing Rehabilitation at Work and Home
We understand that once you leave the clinic there may be daily factors
at work and home that can interfere with your rehabilitative progress.
One of our therapists can go to your worksite or home to help evaluate
the set-up and your activity there. The therapist will then make recommendations
that support your rehabilitation.
We prepare you to return to the workforce by teaching body mechanics such
as proper lifting and postural techniques. This will help you decrease
the possibility of re-injury.
If you are unable to travel to the clinic, your rehab can continue after
your hospital stay with a regular visit from one of our physical therapists
to your home. This ensures continuity of care so your progress will continue.
