The HRRMC Foundation is a 501 c3 nonprofit and charitable organization dedicated to supporting Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center’s mission to enhance the health of our community through the delivery of personalized and exceptional care.

We believe a strong and stable healthcare system is the heart of a healthy community. Through the generosity of community members and partners, we maintain a dynamic and thriving healthcare system throughout our region.

Since 1986, the HRRMC Foundation has built employee and community relationships and partnerships to provide funding for healthcare facilities, equipment and priority health services through dynamic donors, sponsorships and grant opportunities.

Our thriving 25-bed hospital is designated as a Critical Care Access, Level IV Trauma Center and is accredited by the Joint Commission. We serve more than 30,000 residents in Chaffee, western Fremont, Saguache, Custer, and western Park Counties. HRRMC clinics are located in Salida, Buena Vista, Westcliffe, and Saguache.

Thanks to our generous supporters, in 2023 the Foundation plans to achieve the following:

  • Facilitate funding the Mary Ann Banach Wound Care Center at HRRMC. This new service, to be located near the main entrance of HRRMC, will provide a hyperbaric chamber with pressurized oxygen to increase the healing of wounds for patients who are immune compromised, have diabetes or nerve damage.
  • Fund a planned Hospitality House on the HRRMC Campus that will provide charitable overnight accommodations for HRRMC patients, their families and caregivers who live 30 or more miles from Salida. These accommodations will also support families of hospice patients in the area. We anticipate breaking ground on these four units in 2023.
  • Manage the Picie Hylton Charitable Fund, the operational fund for the Hospitality House and ensure that the individuals who stay, can stay for free.
  • Coordinate up to ten health care scholarships for individuals from the area.
  • Host the annual HRRMC Cancer Walk in the spring of 2023, dates TBD.

Our history

HRRMC Foundation has been the official conduit for Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center since November 26, 1986. Its mission is to provide philanthropic resources to HRRMC as the hospital strives to enhance the health of our community through the delivery of personalized and exceptional care.

HRRMC Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to soliciting, securing and managing donations in support of programs, services and state-of-the-art technology at HRRMC. Donations from individuals and businesses, private and public foundations, and federal and/or state funding allow the HRRMC Foundation to bring healthcare comparable to urban centers to rural Colorado. It takes the entire community to bring about good health, and basic access to healthcare is an important first step. Our supporters understand that a modern, state-of-the-art medical center is vital to better meet the health care needs of our community.

HRRMC is a rural, 25-bed, community-focused Critical Access Hospital and Level IV Trauma center. We are recognized as the health care resource and primary care facility for Chaffee and portions of Fremont, Saguache and Park counties.

With almost 38,000 patients visits each year, HRRMC serves residents and visitors to the Upper Arkansas Valley with century-old traditions of compassion, personal service and individualized care. HRRMC has grown over the years to meet the ever-changing medical needs of the communities served.
