Polling places announced for Salida hospital board election

SALIDA, Colo.—Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) has announced that two polling places will be available for the Salida Hospital District board election occurring on Tuesday, May 6.

Eligible electors in the Salida Hospital District may cast their ballots in the second-floor conference rooms at HRRMC’s main hospital, located at 1000 Rush Dr. in Salida, or at Mountain Heights Church at 28390 County Road 317 in Buena Vista. The election will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 6.

Six candidates are running for three open board seats in the upcoming election. The candidates - in the order in which they will appear on the ballot - are Lydia Segal, Amy Stanley, Carol Merovka, Dean Edwards, Annette Madonna and William Alderton. Candidate ballot order was determined by a lot drawing on March 4.

Eligible electors who want to cast an absentee ballot need to file an application for the absentee ballot with Juanita Ward, the Designated Election Official (DEO). The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday, April 29. Voters who requested to be placed on the permanent absentee voter list during the last election (2022) will automatically receive an absentee ballot, which will be mailed out on April 14.

Applications for absentee ballots are available through the following methods:

  • Visit www.hrrmc.com and click on about us and then the board of directors tab
  • Email your request to hrrmcelections@hrrmc.net
  • Pick up an application at the main reception desk at the hospital
  • Call Juanita Ward at (719) 530-8290

Absentee ballots may be mailed back to DEO Juanita Ward at the hospital. They may also be dropped off in the ballot box in the Administrative suite of the hospital. No ballots may be received at any location inside the hospital except at the ballot box.

All ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on May 6. Postmarks will not count as receipt of the ballot.
