Cardiac Rehab

Heart Health Program

Cardiac rehab is recommended for patients who have recently suffered a heart attack, undergone heart surgery, or have been diagnosed with a heart condition.

Our Providers

This supervised program pairs patients up with knowledgeable medical professionals who help them create a diet and exercise routine to increase the strength and endurance of their heart.

Goals of cardiac rehab:

  • Improve ability to exercise
  • Improvement in symptoms
  • Improve blood lipid levels
  • Reduce or stop smoking
  • Improve mental well-being and reduce stress
  • Reduce risk of heart attack

What to Expect

The first step of this program is a thorough evaluation by a medical specialist. The results of this exam help the cardiac rehab team tailor a program specifically for each patient. An exercise plan is formed, which can either be done one-on-one or in a group setting. Regular heart rate and blood pressure tests will be administered to track progress, and the patient will receive frequent updates on their condition.

Each session is one hour long, and the program usually lasts anywhere from 12 to 36 weeks. The exact length depends on the patient’s goals and severity of their condition.

Counseling

Stress is a major strain on the heart. Exercise can go a long way to improve a condition in the short term, but with stress management, a patient can help the heart run smoother and last longer. Cardiac rehab often includes counseling services to help patients alleviate stress and develop techniques to live a calmer life.
