HRRMC expands and updates direct access lab testing offerings
SALIDA, Colo.—Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center will begin offering a selection of hormone tests to add to its direct access laboratory testing (DAT) menu starting Monday, Aug. 31.
Through HRRMC’s DAT program, patients may order a selection of common lab tests at discounted prices without a medical provider’s order. Our current menu includes tests such as the comprehensive metabolic panel, lipid panel, hemoglobin A1C, a variety of iron, thyroid and vitamin tests, and more.
New available DAT hormone tests include estradiol, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), progesterone and testosterone.
“We are happy to offer a variety of new lab tests that are both accessible and affordable for patients wanting answers to some of their most pressing medical needs,” said HRRMC Vice President of Operations Desirae Westphal.
A patient can access DAT services at HRRMC’s main hospital in Salida, where no appointment is needed. DAT is also offered at HRRMC’s outlying clinics in Salida, Buena Vista, Saguache, Westcliffe and Fairplay. Visit hrrmc.com/dat for a full list of locations, and individual hours of operation and details.
Laboratory test results will be available approximately 24 hours after testing within the HRRMC patient portal. The HRRMC Laboratory will no longer be mailing out lab results directly to the patient. If a patient would like a printed copy of their DAT results, they can request those by visiting the Health Information Management (HIM)/Medical Records department, located at the Salida Health Center at 550 W. Hwy. 50 in Salida.
If a patient's results are critical results, requiring urgent medical attention by a medical provider, the HRRMC laboratory will immediately call the patient with the results.
HRRMC will not send DAT results to a patient's medical provider. It is the patient's responsibility to set up an appointment to review the test results with their provider.
A waiver explaining DAT specifics must be reviewed and signed prior to the lab test. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
The laboratory results of direct access laboratory testing require additional expert interpretation and do not substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, which should be based on your medical provider’s professional judgment, their review of your test results, the findings of physical examination and the review of your personal and family medical history.
