Dr. Mehos was born and raised in Salida. He attended college at his beloved University of Colorado Boulder, went on to medical school and served in the military before returning home to Salida as a physician in 1957. Dr. Mehos loved his community, loved his patients and loved being their doctor. He was a true son of Salida. He passed in July 2022 at the age of 92.
In addition to serving as a physician, Dr. Mehos was one of the founding board members of the HRRMC Foundation in 1986. He served on the Foundation Board through August 2021. During that time, he established a scholarship for local high school seniors going to college to study in a healthcare field. It was his wish for that scholarship to continue after he passed. The HRRMC Foundation will continue administering the Dr. William G. Mehos Scholarship.
