Orthopedic surgeon joins HRRMC

Dr. Perez will practice at the Outpatient Pavilion and the Buena Vista Health Center

SALIDA, Colo.—Fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon Ramon Perez has joined the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC) Orthopedics department as a full-time provider, and will practice at the HRRMC Outpatient Pavilion, and the HRRMC Buena Vista Health Center (BVHC). Dr. Perez is also establishing orthopedic walk-in clinic services in Buena Vista and Westcliffe, to begin in July.

Dr. Perez will provide services at BVHC every Thursday, seeing a combination of scheduled and walk-in patients. Dr. Perez will provide those same orthopedic services on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at Custer County Medical Center in Westcliffe.

“Dr. Perez has been on our staff as a part-time provider since 2017, and we are excited to welcome him to our staff full time,” said HRRMC CEO Robert Morasko.

Prior to joining HRRMC, Dr. Perez practiced Orthopedic Surgery with Banner Health in Colorado.

“In addition to providing services in Salida and Buena Vista, Dr. Perez will also serve the community of Westcliffe,” said HRRMC Vice President Peter Edis. “We are happy that Dr. Perez is also establishing orthopedics walk-in clinics in Buena Vista and Westcliffe to better serve our communities as needed.”

“I look at all aspects of the patient’s background, where they come from and what types of expectations they have for getting back on their feet,” said Dr. Perez. “I try to emphasize a non-operative course of treatment, while also emphasizing the need for surgery when it’s indicated.”

Dr. Perez earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and his Sports Medicine fellowship in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

In addition to in-person appointments, Dr. Perez is also available to see patients via telehealth. For more information or to make an appointment, call the HRRMC Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Center at 719-530-2000.
