HRRMC Foundation awards three $2,500 scholarships

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center Foundation recently awarded $2,500 scholarships to Keenan Barr and Lukas Ommen of Buena Vista, and Claire Zwann of Salida.

Barr is a junior at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities earning a degree in biomedical engineering with a premed focus. Barr’s ultimate goal is to become an orthopedic surgeon

Ommen is currently attending Colorado State University and is majoring in biology with a premed emphasis. He is interested in cardiology and will be taking the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) this year.

Zwann is beginning a physical therapy doctoral program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. She received her undergraduate degree in integrative physiology from the University of Colorado Boulder.

The HRRMC Foundation scholarship is available to any college or university student who lives or has lived within the Salida Hospital District, which encompasses Chaffee, western Fremont, and northern Saguache counties. Applicants who plan to enter the health care field with a minimum of 24 college credit hours and a minimum grade point average of 3.2 are encouraged to apply.
