About Michael

Dr. Atwell is from Geneseo, a small town in rural Illinois. He received his bachelor's degree from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He received his MD degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his Urological Surgery residency at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.

Dr. Atwell has a diverse skillset of specialties, including urologic oncology, male and female voiding dysfunction, urinary stone disease, and pediatric urology. He enjoys working with a diverse range of patients and appreciates that urology allows him to provide his patients immediate assistance for acute conditions (such as urinary stones and genitourinary cancers), while also building long-term relationships when treating chronic diseases (such as voiding dysfunction, recurrent urinary tract infections, and erectile dysfunction). He is committed to providing his patients with therapeutic options that will positively affect their quality of life, both personally and relationally.

In his free time, he enjoys big game hunting, fishing, hiking, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, and biking. He moved to Salida alongside his wife Rachel and two young sons.
