HRRMC Foundation receives $94,000 DOLA Grant for Fairplay-based clinic

FAIRPLAY, Colo.—Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center received a grant of approximately $94,000 from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) for the Energy and Mineral Impact Assistance Fund (EIAF) program. The grant will support the purchase of updating equipment for HRRMC’s South Park Health Care clinic in Fairplay.

HRRMC and the South Park Health Service District will partner to purchase a new x-ray machine, as well as new laboratory and information technology equipment, including computers, a phone system and a virtual conferencing system to connect the clinic directly to HRRMC.

“We are grateful for DOLA’s ongoing support to HRRMC,” said HRRMC Foundation Director Lezlie Burkley. “Together, we have stabilized and expanded healthcare offerings in three regional clinics and made significant improvements to our hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) during the pandemic. Each project has greatly benefited the residents of this area.”

“DOLA has been a strong partner to HRRMC, supporting initiatives at our clinics in Buena Vista, Westcliffe, and now in Fairplay,” said HRRMC CEO Bob Morasko. “These funds go directly towards the improvement of our offerings so we can better treat patients in our rural areas.”

HRRMC began managing South Park Health Care on March 1 of this year, which serves more than 6,000 residents in and around Alma, Como, Fairplay, Hartsel and Jefferson. EIAF funds are distributed based on the impact of mining in Colorado communities.

The HRRMC Foundation provides the hospital with financial support to facilitate innovative programs and provide state-of-the-art healthcare services. For more information about the Foundation's programs, call Lezlie Burkley at 719-530-2218.
