HRRMC now offering vein services in Salida

SALIDA, Colo.—Board-certified general surgeon Karen Johnson, M.D., FACS, is now offering a variety of vein-focused services in HRRMC’s general surgery clinic on its main campus in Salida.

Dr. Johnson will see patients and offer full assessments for women and men who may have issues with vein-related symptoms, including pain and heaviness in the legs, lymphedema, venous ulcers, as well as varicose and spider veins. These symptoms can drastically affect quality of life and mobility, and many conditions can be treated directly by Dr. Johnson in the general surgery clinic.

Outpatient vein services will include both cosmetic and treatment-based therapies and minor procedures.

“This is a completely new offering that you do not commonly find in rural mountain regions,” says HRRMC CEO Bob Morasko. “Dr. Johnson is offering our very active community a valuable service to help prolong physical longevity.”

Additional offerings include, but are not limited to: Sclerotherapy for varicose and spider veins; laser ablation therapy for major veins and associated surgical removal of large visible varicose veins; lymphedema therapy; and wound care related to chronic venous stasis disease.

Dr. Johnson is now seeing patients on a referral basis. For more information, talk to your primary care provider about your symptoms for a referral, or contact the general surgery clinic with questions: (719) 530-2000.
