Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center received top honors among Colorado's Critical Access Hospitals for its work on the Medicare Beneficiary Quality Improvement Project (MBQIP). HRRMC staff collected data on a number of criteria-including timely treatment of heart attack patients, influenza vaccinations for inpatients and staff, pain management with long bone fractures, and emergency department throughput times-and met or exceeded the MBQIP criteria. The Salida hospital was recognized for its achievement at the annual Rural Health Conference in Colorado Springs.
