Pulmonary Rehab

Lung disease treatment

Chronic lung disease and asthma can be very debilitating if not treated properly. Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center offers pulmonary rehab services to improve lung function. Anyone who suffers from COPD, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma or other lung diseases may benefit from pulmonary rehab.

Our Providers

Goals of pulmonary rehab:

  • Improve exercise tolerance
  • Reduce debilitating effects of asthma and lung disease
  • Improve quality of life
  • Reduce the number of hospitalizations

What to expect

A specially trained physician provides a thorough medical evaluation of the patient. An exercise program is then created that is individually tailored to each patient. To ensure the exercises are done properly and safely, training is supervised by a medical professional in a group setting or one-on-one.

During the exercises, the patient’s lung function and breathing are monitored. This way the physician can track progress or stop the exercises if necessary. Trainers will also educate patients on their condition and ways they can stay healthy outside of the program.

Working toward better health

Depending on the patient’s condition and goals, a pulmonary rehab program can last from 12 to 36 weeks. Each session is one-hour long.

If you are interested in the pulmonary rehab program, call (719) 530-2280 to make an appointment. Most insurance plans cover 80% of pulmonary rehab charges. Supplemental policies will typically cover the final 20%.
