Cancer support group meets first Wednesdays

About 1.7 million new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2018, according to the Americancircle of colorful figures Cancer Society.

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center’s Oncology Clinic facilitates a free, monthly support group for anyone affected by cancer the first Wednesday of every month, except holidays, from noon-1 p.m. at the hospital, 1000 Rush Dr., Salida.

The group allows cancer patients, survivors, caretakers, family members, and friends to share experiences and coping tips. In addition, HRRMC medical professionals provide advice on how to deal with the diagnosis as well as maintain overall good health during treatments.

There is no fee to attend and the setting is informal.

If you have questions or would like more information, call group facilitator Brenda Disparti, an HRRMC oncology clinical nurse, at (719) 530-2427.
