HRRMC Women's Health Day scheduled for Oct. 20

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center will host its tenth annual Women’s Health Day, on Saturday, Oct. 20, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the SteamPlant Event Center, 220 West Sackett Ave., Salida. Registration for the event will be open until Wednesday, Oct. 17.Angela Gaffney

This year’s keynote address will be given by Angela Gaffney, a certified health coach, author and wellness speaker. She is an advocate of “owning” your health and focuses on simple, effective strategies to achieve lifelong health.

After the birth of her second child, Gaffney suffered a health crisis and was told to go home and prepare for a progressive disease to take her life. After taking a hard look at her on-the-go lifestyle fueled by convenience food and diet soda, Gaffney devoted an intense amount of time, education and energy into making changes to regain her health.

In addition to the keynote presentation, attendees may choose between eight sessions throughout the day. Topics include “What Can Women’s Health PT Do for You?” "Making Sense of Supplements" and “High Altitude Tips for Healthy Hair, Skin and Nails.”

Other seminars explore “Backcountry First Aid,” “Sex and Women: A Road Map to Intimacy,” and “Gluten Sensitivity and the Gluten-Free Diet.”

The day ends with a choice of interactive sessions including “Preparing Quick and Healthy Snacks” and “Restorative Yoga.”
