HRRMC Health Fair introduces cooking demonstration and heart-health talk
Salida, Colorado-The HRRMC Health Fair is coming Saturday, April 22, 6:30-11 a.m., to the
hospital's main campus, 1000 Rush Dr., Salida. New this year is a
talk on "Reversing Heart Disease" at 9 a.m. and a cooking demonstration
of healthy smoothies and dips at 10 a.m. The fair will still offer a number
of low-cost blood screenings and other free health screenings throughout
The six basic low-cost screenings at the HRRMC Health Fair include blood
chemistry ($35), PSA ($30), hemoglobin Alc ($30), blood count ($20), vitamin
D ($45), and testosterone for men and women ($45). To preregister for
the low-cost screenings, go to www.hrrmc.com and click on the green "Health
Fair" button at the bottom of the home page. Preregistration is not
required, but will save participants the time required to register on
the day of the fair.
To skip the lines at the fair, preregister for an early blood-draw appointment
on April 17-21. These 10-minute slots will be offered from 6-9 a.m. in
the hospital's second-floor conference rooms. Spaces fill up quickly.
To register for an early-draw appointment, go to www.hrrmc.com and click
on the green "Health Fair" button or call HRRMC Wellness Supervisor
Jon Fritz at 530-2057.
To ensure accurate results for the blood-chemistry test, a 12-hour fast
(no food) is recommended prior to the blood draw. Fasting is not necessary
for the other low-cost screening tests. Diabetics should not fast. All
participants should drink water and take their regular medication.
Free screenings available on the day of the fair include prediabetes,
chiropractic, body composition, blood pressure, lung function, skin, posture,
oral health, and more. In order for the prediabetes blood-sugar test to
be accurate, avoid eating before this screening.
Anyone 18 and older may participate in the fair's free and low-cost
health screenings. Participants may preregister for an early-draw appointment,
then come the day of the fair to take advantage of the free screenings.
Attending the HRRMC Health Fair does not replace a regular checkup with
your physician, and participants are advised to make an appointment with
their primary care provider to interpret test results. For questions about
the Health Fair, call 530-2057 or visit hrrmc.com.
