HRRMC Adds Gastroenterology Services

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center has contracted with Peak Gastroenterology Associates of Colorado Springs to provide gastroenterology services to the hospital's patients. The eight board-certified, fellowship-trained gastroenterologists will see patients two days per month at the hospital's Specialty Clinic, 1000 Rush Dr., and perform procedures at the hospital.Gastroenterology system diagram

The gastroenterologists include Robert Harmon, M.D., Lukasz Kowalczyk, M.D., Prashant Krishnan, M.D., Vanessa Lee, M.D., Scot Lewey, D.O., Bhaktasharan Patel, M.D., James Rose, M.D., and Anju Sidhu, M.D. Gastroenterologists can diagnose and treat many digestive disorders, including acid reflux, heartburn, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Crohn's disease.

Dr. Harmon received his medical degree and a Ph.D. in toxicology from Marshall University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Virginia Medical Center, where he also received fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology. He completed a second fellowship in advanced gastroenterology and endoscopy at the Carilion Clinic-Virginia Tech Carilion. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Kowalczyk earned his medical degree from the University of Florida, where he also completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Krishnan was awarded his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical School and completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Lee obtained her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University and did her internal medicine residency and a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Lewey received his osteopathic medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and completed his residency in internal medicine/pediatrics at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. His fellowship training in gastroenterology was done at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Patel is a graduate of Baroda Medical College in India. He completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, and a gastroenterology fellowship at the University of South California. He is board-certified in gastroenterology.

Dr. Rose graduated from the American University of the Caribbean and did his residency in internal medicine at Pinnacle Health Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and a second fellowship in transplant hepatology (liver transplants) at Integris-Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He is board-certified in gastroenterology.

Dr. Sidhu graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed her internal medicine residency and a fellowship in gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at the University of Louisville. She is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
