Polling Places Announced for Salida Hospital Board Election

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center announced that two polling places will be open for the hospital board election on May 3.

Eligible electors in the Salida Hospital District may cast their ballots in the second-floor conference rooms at the Salida hospital, 1000 Rush Dr., or at the American Legion, 338 N. Railroad, Buena Vista. Polling hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Three candidates are running for two open hospital board seats in the upcoming election. The candidates, in the order in which they will appear on the ballot, are Dennis Giese, Jeff Post and Jean Moltz. The ballot order was determined by a lot drawing on March 1.

Eligible electors who want to cast an absentee ballot need to file a new application for the absentee ballot with Juanita Ward, the designated election official. The application must be filed no later than 2 p.m. on Friday, April 29.

Applications for absentee ballots are available at www.hrrmc.com or at the main reception desk at the hospital. Electors may also request an application by calling Juanita Ward at (719) 530-2231 or sending her a request by mail at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, 1000 Rush Drive, Salida, CO, 81201.

Absentee ballots may be mailed back to Juanita Ward, the designated election official, at the hospital. They may also be dropped off in the ballot box outside Ward's office in the Administrative suite of the hospital. No ballots may be received at any location inside the hospital except for the ballot box.

All absentee ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on May 3. Postmarks do not count as receipt of the ballot.
