HRRMC's Strategic Plan

Guided by our mission, vision and values, the goals and strategies outlined in this plan will help Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center deliver the highest quality patient care and customer service. This strategic plan is the result of feedback from employees, physicians, patients and families, hospital board members, business representatives and members of the community.

The plan has measurable goals, and defined strategies and action steps to reach them. Progress in achieving the goals outlined in the plan is reviewed at the monthly hospital board meetings (click on the Classes & Events button on the homepage for board meeting dates). Governance: Provide resources, training and support for the HRRMC Board of Directors to effectively and efficiently excel in their responsibilities of governance and stewardship.
Provide Board of Directors education opportunities on their role and responsibilities related to Board Governance
Annual review of Board policies regarding the Board's and Leadership's role with Mission, governance and operations
Annual review of Board bylaws to incorporate changing regulations and better coordinate with revised Medical Staff bylaws

Facilities Plan: Plan, maintain and develop facilities, equipment and infrastructure to achieve a safe, comfortable and efficient environment of care.

Human Resources Plan: Achieve organizational goals by recruiting, orienting, developing and retaining highly engaged and accountable employees.
Identify areas to improve employee retention, relations and recruitment by performing AVATAR survey
Develop and implement action items to be put into Departmental Plans and Executive Leadership Plan based on AVATAR survey results to respond to low-scoring areas of engagement
Develop and implement a successful onboarding and offboarding process for employees
Offer employee education related to retirement and insurance benefits
Develop training for managers to include FMLA/Workers' Comp

Physician/Provider Recruitment, Retention and Relations Plan: Achieve organizational goals that meet community healthcare needs by recruiting, orienting, developing and retaining highly engaged and accountable physicians and providers.
Consider recruitment of additional specialists to augment current medical staff
Retain employed physicians; minimize turnover due to physician dissatisfaction with the organization
Access to primary care is timely for patients

Quality and Patient Safety Plan: Achieve patient, resident, client, visitor and staff safety while providing high quality healthcare services through continuous improvement process.
Core measures will be at/or above federal and Colorado averages
Peer review will meet CMS regulations
Electronic documentation will meet CMS clinical documentation requirements
Performance improvement plans will support organization quality initiatives
Evalute and analyze accreditation options
Team STEPPS will be implemented to improve communications within specific departments

Service Area Growth and Marketing Plan: Develop business growth strategies and marketing plans to meet service area healthcare needs.
Enhance affordable offerings of direct access medical testing
Enhance behavioral health services at HRRMC to better serve community members presenting to the hospital with behavioral health needs (emergency and short-term crisis stabilization)
Establish Wound Care Center
Introduce new Center for Breast Health
Increase awareness of different specialists at HRRMC
Establish comprehensive pain program
Increase awareness of Wellness U offerings, including new HRRMC Health Fair
Introduce dialysis services
Improve dental hygienist access to patients with Medicaid

Service Excellence Plan: Achieve a culture of service excellence as demonstrated by measurable improvement in customer satisfaction across the organization.
Improve the continuity of patient care and overall patient satisfaction
Avatar customer service scores will meet or exceed the identified top-box score for all departments
Access and improve interdepartmental customer satisfaction scores for all departments that do not have an Avatar survey

Financial Productivity Plan: Achieve financial stability and efficiency as an organization while fulfilling the responsibilities of stewardship over community funds and integrity and transparency in business relationships.
Develop Facility Master Plan and five-year Strategic Plan Budget
Ensure financial performance information and expectations are shared with board of directors, executive leadership and employed physicians
Successfully implement ICD-10 coding
HRRMC is financially viable
Establish a strategy to reduce HRRMC's supply, maintenance and equipment-purchasing costs
Investigate potential for cost-based Medicare reimbursement for Internal Medicine and Highway 50 clinics
Maintain a competitive cost structure for HRRMC services to ensure outmigration due to cost is minimized
Identify a viable solution for the physician clinic electronic health record system
