HRRMC offers total joint replacement

Salida, Colorado - Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Paul Rahill and Dr. Edward Szuszczewicz will begin performing total hip and total knee replacements at the hospital in Salida in March. Both orthopedic surgeons are with Front Range Orthopaedics, based in Colorado Springs.

"We are excited to have Dr. Szuszczewicz and Dr. Rahill join our staff to provide total joint replacement surgery locally at HRRMC," said Ken Leisher, chief executive officer. "Both physicians have extensive experience in knee and hip replacements and will be a great addition for our community."

Drs. Rahill and Szuszczewicz will see patients at the Visiting Physicians Clinic at the medical center and perform surgery in Salida during the first and third weeks of the month. The joint replacement program complements the orthopedic services offered by Dr. Robert Hunter, director of HRRMC's Orthopedic Sports Medicine Center and Orthopedic Center of Excellence.

Dr. Szuszczewicz earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine and a fellowship in adult orthopaedic reconstructive surgery at the Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute in Alexandria, Va. Dr. Szuszczewicz is board certified in orthopaedic surgery.

Dr. Rahill holds a medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Oklahoma University Hospital and a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the Aspen Foundation for Sports Medicine, Education and Research. Dr. Rahill is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine.
