Polling places announced for Hospital board election

Salida, Colorado - Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center announced that two polling places will be open for the hospital board election on May 8.

Eligible electors in the Salida Hospital District can cast their ballots in the second-floor conference rooms at the hospital in Salida or at the American Legion, 338 North Railroad, Buena Vista. Polling hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Nine candidates are running for two open hospital board seats in the upcoming election.

The candidates, in the order in which they will appear on the ballot, are Alan Sulzenfuss, Marilyn Bouldin, Charles Forster, Dennis Giese, Richard Edgington, Joan Michaud, Eric Gibb, Hugh Young and John Klein. The ballot order was determined by a lot drawing on March 7.

Hospital districts in Colorado are not required to mail ballots to permanent mail-in voters. Eligible electors who want to cast a mail-in ballot need to file a new application for the mail-in ballot with Juanita Ward, the designated election official. The application must be filed no later than 4 p.m. on May 1.

Applications for mail-in ballot are available at the main reception desk at the hospital. Electors can also request an application by calling Juanita Ward at 530-2231 or sending her a request by mail at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, 1000 Rush Drive, Salida, CO, 81201.
