HRRMC exhibits paintings by Bailey Escapule

January 6, 2012

Salida, Colorado-An exhibit of oil paintings by Salida artist Bailey Escapule is on display at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center through March 31.

Escapule is originally from southeastern Arizona, where his family has been involved in mining and ranching since the 1870s. The pioneering tradition is in his blood, and Escapule's work focuses on the wild places, wildlife and people of the West. He most enjoys figure painting, capturing ranchers and other westerners in their day-to-day activities.

Escapule earned a bachelor's degree in geological engineering from the University of Arizona in 1979. Always active in art, he changed careers in 1992 to become a full-time artist. He has taken oil painting workshops from Mark Daly and Dan Beck and workshops from several sculptors including Bruno Luchessi and Sandy Scott. His work is represented by Gallery 150 in Salida and Mirage Trading Post in Moffat.

All paintings in the hospital exhibit are for sale, and 25 percent of the proceeds are donated to the HRRMC Foundation.

HRRMC is hosting four art exhibits this year, as part of its mission to create a healing environment. The hospital displays the work of regional artists, with an emphasis on the Arkansas Valley. For more information on exhibiting art at HRRMC, call 719-530-2200.
