Salida, Colorado-In a gala ceremony at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center on Monday, March 19, Nurse Supervisor Lisa Barr, R.N., was named 2011 TRAC STAR of the Year. The hospital's TRAC STAR embodies the core values that guide employee performance: Teamwork, Recognition, Attitude, Customer Service, Safety, Talent, Accountability and Respect.
Barr was selected by her coworkers in a hospital-wide vote from a field of 11 TRAC STAR finalists. Each quarter the hospital honors three finalists. In 2011, Barr was both a finalist in the first quarter and the TRAC STAR of the second quarter.
CEO Ken Leisher presented Barr with a $1,000 gift check and noted that she "always has a smile no matter how hectic the day becomes. She's a team player with a super attitude." Hospital staff members can nominate any of their colleagues for the TRAC STAR award.
Barr's professionalism, reliability and good patient rapport were applauded. One employee who nominated Barr said, "Lisa cheerfully helps with all aspects of patient care. Starting IVs, entering physician orders, passing out food trays, answering phones, and completing initial interviews on admitted patients."
Another nominator noted Barr "is available to help whoever needs it and NEVER complains."
Leisher also recognized the other 2011 TRAC STAR finalists: Geovanna Archuleta, Debbie Eggleston, R.N., Debra Faulconer, Kathy Feaz, L.P.N., Jay Hoagland, R.N., Jerry Schoenfeld, Anny Schrager, Darlene Surber, Chris Swan, R.T., and Denise Washer.
