2016 Jewel Ball

The HRRMC Foundation hosted its twelfth annual Jewel Ball - "An Evening in New York" - on Sept. 24 at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds.

Charles "Charlie" Forster was honored as this year's inductee into the HRRMC Hall of Fame, which recognizes individuals who have made an enduring commitment to quality health care in the Upper Arkansas Valley. Previous inductees in the Hall of Fame include Dr. Thomas Sandell, Dr. William Mehos, attorney Robert Rush and the HRRMC Auxiliary.

A Colorado native and local banker, Charlie has worked tirelessly on behalf of the hospital since the early 1990s when he co-chaired the successful 1991-92 capital campaign that raised over $700,000 for the last major addition to the original hospital on First Street. Charlie also served for 12 years as a director on the Salida Hospital District Board and for 16 years as chairman of the HRRMC Foundation. Under his leadership the hospital raised more than $2.2 million in grants, gifts and pledges for construction of the new hospital, which opened in 2008.

Proceeds from the Jewel Ball were dedicated to the purchase of a new CT scanner with cardiac capabilities.
