About The Family Birthing Center

The Family Birthing Center offers a comfortable, safe, and close-to-home space to bring your new family member into the world. A caring, responsive team of obstetricians, nurses, and lactation specialists are here to support you in your birth experience. Approximately 130 babies are born here every year.

Birthing room amenities and nursery

The Family Birthing Center has four comfortable birthing suites with beautiful mountain views. Our birthing beds offer the ability to labor, deliver, and recover all in the same room. Spacious private bathrooms provide walk-in jacuzzi tubs to help with relaxation during labor. Sleeper sofas and recliners offer birth partners/coaches a comfortable place to rest.

Most newborns room-in with mom, but if a newborn requires extra medical support, they are cared for in our Level 1 Nursery. Our nursing staff is specially trained in caring for infants.

Preparing for delivery

While our most important goal is a safe, healthy birth for parent and baby, we understand that every person has their own hopes for the birth experience. We offer wireless fetal monitoring so one is able to move around or labor in the tub. Birthing balls, music, Jacuzzi tubs, and the ability to bring your own comforts of home are available. We gladly welcome doulas and other birth support team members. We support individual birthing plans to the best of our ability and encourage patients to create a birth plan to serve as a guide to those involved with your care. Anesthesia services are available for epidurals and pain management.

Our physicians perform Cesarean sections when needed, but our overall C-section rate is well below the national average. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the national first-time C-section rate in 2023 was 22.5%. In 2023, HRRMC's first-time C-sections was 13.5%, nearly half of the national rate.

We offer free Childbirth and free Breastfeeding Basics classes for expectant parent(s) throughout the year.

After Delivery

Post delivery, most newborns room-in as we help with rest and recovery from birth and help guide how to care for your newborn. A visit from a specially trained Physical Therapist is part of your care. Trained Certified Lactation Specialists are available to support and help with breast or bottle feeding as well as teaching how to care for yourself and your newborn.
